About Cibeninfesta

For over forty years, every June, Cibeninfesta has filled the hamlet of Cibeno, north of Carpi, in the province of Modena, with life. It is the festival of the Parish of Sant'Agata: ten days of Emilian cuisine under marquees, musical evenings, tournaments, children's entertainment, and community gatherings. A popular and family-friendly event, animated by about a hundred volunteers, where religious tradition intertwines with village festivities and the authentic flavors of the Bassa modenese.

A Community Festival in the Heart of Cibeno

Cibeninfesta is the historic festival of the Parish of Sant'Agata, in the hamlet of Cibeno, on the northern outskirts of Carpi, in the province of Modena (Emilia-Romagna). For over forty years — the 2025 edition was the 43rd — the festival transforms the square and the areas around the church into a large meeting place for ten days, where different generations come together around the table, music, and village traditions.

Emilian Cuisine Takes Center Stage

The heart of Cibeninfesta is its restaurant under the marquees, the true attraction of the event: every evening, dozens of volunteers prepare traditional Modenese and Emilian dishes. Among the offerings that have made the festival famous over the years are baked lasagna, gramigna with sausage, green tortelli, grilled meats, fried gnocco, as well as fish dishes and a vegetarian option. On weekends, the pub and brewery are added with music and a youthful atmosphere, managed by local sports clubs and associations.

Music, Tournaments, and Entertainment

Evenings alternate between live concerts, dancing, shows, and entertainment for all ages. There are also tournaments — from table football to green volleyball — shows for the little ones, workshops, and activities that make Cibeninfesta a truly family-oriented festival. Sundays begin with breakfasts at the bar and continue with shows and events that involve the entire hamlet.

Faith and Tradition

Alongside the convivial aspect, the religious dimension, which gives rise to the festival, remains strong: Eucharistic celebrations, prayer moments for the sick with the anointing of the infirm, remembrance of couples celebrating wedding anniversaries, and blessings of families. These are complemented by reflection and testimony sessions on social issues, a sign of an active parish community rooted in the Carpi area.

An Event Run by Volunteers

What makes Cibeninfesta special is the entirely voluntary organizational machine: every evening, about a hundred people, including many young people from the parish, dedicate themselves to the festival. The proceeds support the activities of the parish community of Sant'Agata. For those who want to discover authentic Emilia-Romagna, far from the major tourist circuits, Cibeninfesta is an opportunity to experience a true village festival of the Bassa modenese.
