Once called Aspra until 1947 and already mentioned in Virgil's Aeneid, Casperia preserves its medieval layout intact, enclosed by 13th-century walls accessible via Porta Romana and Porta Santa Maria. The setting was Piazza del Municipio and the streets of the historic center, decorated for the holidays with lights and Christmas displays.

How to get there
Casperia is located in the province of Rieti, in the Sabina Mountains, about an hour's drive from Rome. By car, it can be reached via the Via Salaria (SS4) or the A1 motorway, taking the Ponzano Romano-Soratte exit. The historic center is pedestrian-only: it is recommended to leave your car in the parking lots at the foot of the village.
