The Fantastic Santa Claus Castle in the manor of Lunghezza, east of Rome
During the holiday season, Lunghezza Castle, a historic residence of ancient origins overlooking the Aniene valley in the district of the same name east of Rome, becomes the Fantastic Santa Claus Castle. It is one of the most beloved Christmas villages in Lazio: the frescoed halls of the manor and the surrounding three-hectare park are transformed into an enchanted path designed especially for families and children.
The event is organized by Il Fantastico Mondo del Fantastico, a theme park active at Lunghezza Castle since 1996. The Christmas appointment, now in its tenth edition, opens in mid-November and continues on weekends and public holidays until January 6th.
Once through the castle gates, visitors discover the apartments of the Lord of the Holidays: the grand Throne Room where Santa Claus welcomes children, the Bedroom, the fabulous sleighs, and the Toymaker Elves' workshop, busy fulfilling the wishes of the little ones. Welcoming guests is also the fascinating Snow Fairy, immersed in a white dream.
In the park and on the stages, shows and entertainment follow one another with dozens of fairy-tale and cartoon characters: elf dances, Santa's helpers, the Nutcracker and his ballerina, the Frozen kingdom, Cinderella, fairies and their bubble games, polar bears, Masha and the Bear, as well as Christmas-themed superheroes. Between theater, dance, magic, and music, the atmosphere is that of a great open-air Christmas story.
The grand finale is set for January 6th, the day of the Epiphany, with the Befana festival: the friendly old lady reaches the castle together with Santa Claus, the elves, and all the characters of the event for the last great day of celebration, which closes with a fireworks display.
The most recent edition celebrated two important milestones: ten years of Christmas at Lunghezza Castle and thirty years of Il Fantastico Mondo del Fantastico, inaugurated on January 6, 1996. A deep bond between the theme park and its community of visitors, many of whom return every year from generation to generation.
Located in the territory of the Municipality of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital (Lazio), the Fantastic Santa Claus Castle is one of the reference Christmas destinations for those looking, a few kilometers from the center of the Capital, for a day dedicated to the magic of Christmas, amidst curated sets, costumed characters, and the charm of a real historic castle.
