About Christmas in the Square

Every late December, the local market area of Casal de' Pazzi, in Rome's Municipality IV, transforms into a hub of celebration and community. "Christmas in the Square" is a free event designed as a narrative journey that guides the audience from afternoon into the evening: a Santa Claus village and workshops for children, shows, snow effects, and live music with gospel concerts and nationally acclaimed guests. It is a way to enhance the square as a shared public space and strengthen the neighborhood's sense of belonging.

The neighborhood Christmas in Casal de' Pazzi

Christmas in the Square is the Christmas festival that brings the Casal de' Pazzi neighborhood in Rome's Municipality IV to life every late December. For one evening, the local market area, located between Viale Locke and Via Augusto Comte, shifts from a commercial space into a place of meeting, celebration, and community. The initiative is promoted by Roma Capitale through the Department of Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion, as part of the rich calendar of widespread festivities that reach the peripheral neighborhoods of the Capital in the Lazio region during the holidays.

A narrative journey from afternoon to evening

The event is not just a simple succession of shows, but is conceived as a true narrative journey divided into several moments, accompanying families and residents from late afternoon until late evening. It begins with a space dedicated to the little ones and continues with live music, in a crescendo designed to engage all ages.

The children's village

The first part of the evening is dedicated to children and families, with a scenic area hosting Santa's house, costumed elves, creative workshops, and a large wooden play area. There is no shortage of entertainment with the Frozen show, giant soap bubbles, and the magical atmosphere created by snow machines, accompanied by popcorn, cotton candy, and hot chocolate.

Live music

As evening falls, the square lights up with concerts. In past editions, the program has featured the "Natale Insieme" gospel concert, with beloved Christmas carols and spirituals, and the evening concluded with performances by nationally renowned guests in front of a large audience. Music is the heart of the evening and what gives the event its dimension as a great neighborhood celebration.

A community festival

The stated goal of Christmas in the Square is to offer a quality experience to local families and to enhance the square as a shared public space capable of generating a sense of belonging. In a neighborhood often far from the major tourist flows of the historic center, the event brings a highly anticipated moment of gathering to Casal de' Pazzi, with free admission and programming designed to be accessible to everyone.
