A community celebration in the heart of Ciociaria, featuring music, local flavors, and the village's heritage

The Castrocielo Pro Loco Festival is much more than just an evening of entertainment: it is the moment when the entire village gathers to celebrate the association that has enlivened the life of the hamlet for half a century. Castrocielo is a small town in the province of Frosinone, nestled on the slopes of the Ausoni-Aurunci Mountains in southern Lazio, in that land of authentic traditions and rolling hills known as Ciociaria. The festival is held in the heart of the historic center, in Piazza Umberto I, and transforms the village streets into a meeting place for all generations.
In June 2025, the event took on a special meaning: the Castrocielo Pro Loco celebrated its fiftieth anniversary, half a century of voluntary commitment dedicated to promoting the territory, popular traditions, and a sense of community belonging. An important milestone, commemorated with an evening that retraced the history of the association while looking toward the future, featuring shared memories, awards for long-standing members, and the joy of continuing to celebrate together.
The festival program focuses on conviviality. Along the square, food stalls are set up to rediscover the dishes of Ciociarian cuisine and typical local products, alongside craft stalls that showcase the skills and expert hands of the village. Live music accompanies the evening and invites participation, while a photographic exhibition retraces the memory of Castrocielo and the milestones of its Pro Loco through images. It is a festival designed for families, open to everyone, and deeply rooted in the identity of the village.
Visiting Castrocielo during the festival is also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Lazio. The town preserves the remains of the ancient Aquinum on the nearby plain and overlooks a landscape of olive groves and hills that slope down toward the Liri Valley. Beyond this festival, the Pro Loco enlivens the local calendar with numerous initiatives throughout the year, helping to keep traditions alive and welcome visitors. However, the Pro Loco Festival remains the moment when the community of the Municipality of Castrocielo recognizes itself and tells its story, in a region, Lazio, that preserves some of its most genuine expressions in its small villages.
The 2026 edition of the Castrocielo Pro Loco Festival has not yet been confirmed with official dates. The event, which celebrated the association's fiftieth anniversary in 2025, is expected to return to enliven the historic center of the village in the province of Frosinone.
