The Fiera del Castello of Somma Lombardo

The Fiera del Castello is the historic village fair of Somma Lombardo, a town in the Province of Varese. Organised by the Pro Loco Somma Lombardo with municipal patronage, it takes place every year on the third Sunday of September and is one of the most cherished and well-attended events on the local calendar: in 2025, it celebrated its 35th edition.

Almost two kilometres of fair

The event extends along the historic centre, covering approximately 1.8 km of the Sempione route, from Largo Sant'Agnese to Piazza Carlo Ermes Visconti, starting at 9:00 AM. Along the route, you'll find over 200 hobbyists from various regions, about forty Somma associations, twenty local businesses, and other external exhibitors, as well as local painters.

The Pro Loco's Risotto Feast

Among the most anticipated traditions is the risotto feast prepared by the Pro Loco during lunchtime (around 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM): a classic that serves an average of about 500 portions per edition and attracts many visitors each year, fostering a sense of community.

A Celebration for Everyone

In addition to the stalls, the Fiera del Castello offers workshops for children and performances by street artists, creating a festive atmosphere that engages families and visitors of all ages. It's an event that showcases the spirit of Somma Lombardo and the Varese region, in Lombardy, where the grand village fair remains an identity-defining moment at the end of summer.
