A painting competition through the alleys of Castel Frentano

The 'Castel Frentano Punti di Vista' Painting Competition is an open-air art contest held in the historic center of Castel Frentano, a town in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. The event is organized by the Pro Loco Castel Frentano APS and aims to promote and enhance the village through the artistic interpretation of its participants.

Throughout the day, professional and amateur artists of all ages set up along the streets and squares of the town to create their works entirely on-site. The theme of the competition is Castel Frentano itself: painters are invited to capture views, atmospheres, landscapes, and details that reveal the soul of this Abruzzo village.

Artistic stops in the historic center

The painting route crosses some of the most evocative spots in the town, which serve as privileged viewpoints for the artists:

• Palazzo dei Marchesi Crognale, an elegant late 18th-century noble residence;
• Palazzo Vergilj, a historic 17th-century palace;
• Church of the Santissimo Rosario, dating back to the 18th century;
• Church of Santo Stefano Protomartire, in 18th-century neoclassical style.

The heart of the event is Piazza G. Crognale, the meeting point and place for the submission of works. Canvases must be created exclusively on-site during the day, with no possibility of completing work elsewhere.
