The Carnival of Val Bisagno
The Carrossezzu is the Carnival festival that enlivens the middle Val Bisagno, the valley that winds northeast of Genoa along the course of the Bisagno stream. It takes place in Molassana, a district of Municipality IV, and represents one of the most important community gathering moments for the valley's inhabitants, capable of attracting families and curious people from all over the area.
The parade of floats
The heart of the event is the parade of floats and themed groups, accompanied by music and entertainment. The procession starts from Molassana street, near Patanegra, continues to the Rotonda dei Tonni and turns into Piacenza street, where the awards ceremony is held at the intersection with Fossato Cicala. Along the route, street activities involve the public in a festive atmosphere.
A community celebration
Organised by Municipality IV Media Val Bisagno in collaboration with the G.A.U. Association, a very active local organisation, the Carrossezzu is the culmination of preparation work involving the neighbourhood. More than just a parade, it is an occasion that reaffirms the popular identity of Val Bisagno and the bond between its inhabitants.
Carrossezzu — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Carrossezzu is scheduled for Saturday, February 21 in Molassana, starting at 2 PM. The parade of floats and masked groups crosses the neighbourhood accompanied by music and entertainment.
The route starts from Molassana street, near Patanegra, continues to the Rotonda dei Tonni and turns into Piacenza street, where the awards ceremony is held at the intersection with Fossato Cicala. The event is organised by Municipality IV Media Val Bisagno with the G.A.U. Association.

How to get there
Molassana is reachable by AMT buses from the centre of Genoa along the Val Bisagno route. On the day of the parade, traffic changes are expected along Molassana street and Piacenza street.
