About CarpInMusica

CarpInMusica is the major summer music festival in Carpi, in the heart of the Modena plains, organized by the Teatro Comunale as part of CarpiEstate. Under the artistic direction of pianist and conductor Carlo Guaitoli, it brings together diverse genres in a single event – from classical music to jazz, pop to world music, including a week dedicated to the guitar. The concerts animate two evocative locations in the historic center: the intimate Courtyard of Honour of Palazzo dei Pio and the spacious Piazzale Re Astolfo, where the most anticipated artists of the season take the stage.

One summer, many ways to listen to music

CarpInMusica is the festival that, every summer, transforms the historic center of Carpi – a populous city in the Province of Modena, in Emilia-Romagna – into an open-air stage. Organized by the Teatro Comunale di Carpi as part of the CarpiEstate program, the event brings together very different musical genres under one name, offering the public a journey ranging from classical to jazz, from auteur pop to world music, up to the guitar as the protagonist of a dedicated cycle.

The venues: Palazzo dei Pio and Piazzale Re Astolfo

The concerts take place in two spaces in the historic center of Carpi, each with its own atmosphere. The Courtyard of Honour of Palazzo dei Pio, intimate and rich with Renaissance charm, hosts the more intimate classical, jazz, and baroque music events. The large Piazzale Re Astolfo, on the other hand, hosts concerts by international artists, capable of attracting a large audience under the summer sky of the Po Valley.

Artistic Direction

The programming is guided by pianist and conductor Carlo Guaitoli, who envisioned CarpInMusica as a single, large container: within it coexist the historic souls of the festival, from CarpInClassica to CarpInJazz, to the Mundus Festival for world music and The Guitar Week, the week in August entirely dedicated to the guitar. A deliberately cross-genre offering, designed for the curious audience and for those loyal to a single genre.

An event of the Emilian summer

Included in the rich CarpiEstate calendar alongside other city events, CarpInMusica is now one of the reference musical events of the summer in Emilia-Romagna. Evenings generally start at 9:30 PM, with doors opening at 9:00 PM, alternating free concerts and paid performances with affordable tickets, alongside major events by internationally renowned artists.

  • Where: Courtyard of Honour of Palazzo dei Pio and Piazzale Re Astolfo, Carpi (MO)
  • When: from the end of June to the end of August
  • Genres: classical, jazz, auteur pop, world music, guitar
  • Organization: Teatro Comunale di Carpi, as part of CarpiEstate

CarpInMusica — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of CarpInMusica presents itself in a new guise, as a single major musical event from pop to jazz to classical. Scheduled for 15 performances from June 22 to August 24, with artistic direction by Carlo Guaitoli and internationally renowned artists: Goran Bregović, Suzanne Vega, and Eugenio Finardi in Piazzale Re Astolfo, and a refined concert season in the Courtyard of Honour of Palazzo dei Pio.

For 2026, CarpInMusica is profoundly renewed, bringing together very diverse genres in a single program: classical music, jazz, auteur pop, and world music alternate between the Courtyard of Honour of Palazzo dei Pio and the Piazzale Re Astolfo. Fifteen performances mark the summer in Carpi from June 22 to August 24, under the artistic direction of pianist Carlo Guaitoli. Alongside major concerts by international stars, the festival offers a series of classical, jazz, and baroque music evenings, as well as the week dedicated to the guitar in August.
