Carpi's summer music festival featuring jazz, classical, pop, and world music
CarpInMusica is the festival that, every summer, transforms the historic center of Carpi – a populous city in the Province of Modena, in Emilia-Romagna – into an open-air stage. Organized by the Teatro Comunale di Carpi as part of the CarpiEstate program, the event brings together very different musical genres under one name, offering the public a journey ranging from classical to jazz, from auteur pop to world music, up to the guitar as the protagonist of a dedicated cycle.
The concerts take place in two spaces in the historic center of Carpi, each with its own atmosphere. The Courtyard of Honour of Palazzo dei Pio, intimate and rich with Renaissance charm, hosts the more intimate classical, jazz, and baroque music events. The large Piazzale Re Astolfo, on the other hand, hosts concerts by international artists, capable of attracting a large audience under the summer sky of the Po Valley.
The programming is guided by pianist and conductor Carlo Guaitoli, who envisioned CarpInMusica as a single, large container: within it coexist the historic souls of the festival, from CarpInClassica to CarpInJazz, to the Mundus Festival for world music and The Guitar Week, the week in August entirely dedicated to the guitar. A deliberately cross-genre offering, designed for the curious audience and for those loyal to a single genre.
Included in the rich CarpiEstate calendar alongside other city events, CarpInMusica is now one of the reference musical events of the summer in Emilia-Romagna. Evenings generally start at 9:30 PM, with doors opening at 9:00 PM, alternating free concerts and paid performances with affordable tickets, alongside major events by internationally renowned artists.
For 2026, CarpInMusica is profoundly renewed, bringing together very diverse genres in a single program: classical music, jazz, auteur pop, and world music alternate between the Courtyard of Honour of Palazzo dei Pio and the Piazzale Re Astolfo. Fifteen performances mark the summer in Carpi from June 22 to August 24, under the artistic direction of pianist Carlo Guaitoli. Alongside major concerts by international stars, the festival offers a series of classical, jazz, and baroque music evenings, as well as the week dedicated to the guitar in August.
All performances usually start at 9:30 PM (audience entry from 9:00 PM).
Carpi is located along the Verona–Modena–Bologna railway line: the station is a few minutes' walk from the historic center. By car, the nearest motorway exit is Carpi on the A22 Brennero. The concerts are held in the Courtyard of Honour of Palazzo dei Pio and in Piazzale Re Astolfo, both in the historic center.
Tickets for paid performances are available online at vivaticket.com and, for major concerts, on the TicketOne circuit. Teatro Comunale box office: tel. +39 059 649263, [email protected]. Several classical music events in the Courtyard of Honour are affordably priced or free.
Performances usually start at 9:30 PM, with doors opening at 9:00 PM.
