Carnival on the Lakeshore
In Ispra, in the Province of Varese, on the Lombard shore of Lake Maggiore, Carnival is an eagerly awaited event that colors the heart of the town. The festival takes place in Piazza Locatelli, in the historic center, and is part of the traveling circuit "Carnevale in Tour", which brings the magic of Carnival to various municipalities in the Varese area.

On Sunday, February 15, 2026, Piazza Locatelli, in the center of Ispra, comes alive with Carnevale in Tour. From 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, allegorical floats and masked groups parade amidst confetti and music, in a colorful celebration designed for adults and children.
The event, organized by the Municipality of Ispra, features food stalls and entertainment for all ages. Traffic diversions are in effect during the event (municipal ordinance no. 11/2026).

How to get there
Ispra is located on the Lombard shore of Lake Maggiore, in the Province of Varese. By car, it can be reached from the SS629 or the A8/A26 motorway; the Ispra-Brebbia train station is on the Milan-Domodossola line. The festival takes place in Piazza Locatelli, in the center.
