The grand float parade uniting Cervino and Santa Maria a Vico
The Carnevale in Comune is a major carnival celebration that unites the two towns of Cervino and Santa Maria a Vico, in the heart of the Agro Caleno area in the province of Caserta (Campania). Born from a partnership between the two municipal administrations, the event has transformed local traditions into a shared festival, drawing families, children, and masked groups from across the region.
The heart of the festival is the grand parade of allegorical floats, which brings the streets to life every year with vibrant, handcrafted structures built by local master float makers. The procession starts in Cervino and travels through the territory until it reaches Piazza Roma in Santa Maria a Vico, where the grand finale takes place. The floats are accompanied by masked groups, street performers, mascots, and shows designed especially for the little ones.
The event features a rich entertainment program: DJ sets, animation, dancing, and Brazilian-style shows, with dancers and choreography that bring the atmosphere of the South American Carnival to the town squares. Not to be missed are the Bottari della Cantica Popolare, who use barrels, vats, and scythes to beat out the rhythm of the traditional Campanian peasant cultureโone of the strongest identity markers of this area.
The Carnevale in Comune is designed as a popular, free, and inclusive event suitable for all ages. The squares fill with confetti, masks, and music, while the entertainment dedicated to children makes the day an unmissable appointment for families from Cervino, Santa Maria a Vico, and the surrounding areas.
Located in the Agro Caleno, the towns of Cervino and Santa Maria a Vico belong to the province of Caserta in the Campania region. The collaboration between the two communities, renewed year after year, has become the symbol of a carnival that transcends municipal boundaries to celebrate identity, tradition, and fun together.
The 2026 edition, the fourth of the partnership between the towns of Cervino and Santa Maria a Vico, took place on February 17th with the grand parade of thirteen allegorical floats. The procession started from Cervino to reach Piazza Roma in Santa Maria a Vico, featuring Bottari, Brazilian shows, DJ sets, and entertainment dedicated to children.
