About Carneval dei Storti

The Carneval dei Storti is the historic Carnival of Dolo, on the Riviera del Brenta, in the province of Venice. Every year it attracts tens of thousands of spectators along the streets of the center for the grand parade of floats, masked groups, and majorettes. The name refers to the 'storti', the typical cone-shaped pastries that are enjoyed warm with cream during the festival. A beloved popular tradition that colors the beginning of Dolo's spring with confetti and music.

The historic Carnival of Dolo

The Carneval dei Storti is one of the most cherished Carnival events in the Riviera del Brenta. Founded in the early eighties, it is organized by Pro Loco Dolo and transforms the historic center of the Municipality of Dolo, in the province of Venice, into an open-air stage every year.

The floats and the parade

The heart of the festival is the grand afternoon parade: handcrafted floats, masked groups, majorettes, and musical bands parade through the central streets of the city. Recent editions have attracted around 25,000 spectators, with thousands of participants involved, including float builders and masked figures.

The 'storti', the sweet symbol of the festival

The name of the event comes from the 'storti', the traditional cone-shaped pastries typical of the area, which are enjoyed warm during Carnival, accompanied by cream and hot chocolate. They are the true gastronomic souvenir of the day.

A festival for the entire Riviera

The Carneval dei Storti is an eagerly awaited event not only by the people of Dolo but by the entire Riviera del Brenta and the Venetian area. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is that of a great village festival, with confetti, streamers, and masks of all ages.
