Handicrafts, collectibles, and local products on the shores of Lake Bolsena
With the arrival of the warmer season, the Capodimonte waterfront transforms into an open-air showcase. The Lakeside Market enlivens the promenade overlooking the waters of Lake Bolsena with selected stalls of handicrafts, collectibles, vintage items, and local products, set in one of the most evocative settings in the province of Viterbo. The event, with free admission, attracts visitors from all over the Tuscia region and beyond, thanks to the panorama that accompanies every stall.
The market brings together exhibitors with very different profiles, satisfying curious visitors, collectors, and food lovers alike. Among the most recurring offerings:
The stalls remain active from early morning until sunset, when the light on the lake provides one of the most beautiful views of the day.
The Municipality of Capodimonte, in northern Lazio, stands on a promontory that juts into Lake Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in Europe. The village is dominated by the Rocca Farnese and preserves a historic center overlooking the water, with a beach of dark volcanic sand. Walking among the market stalls is also a way to discover this corner of the province of Viterbo, rich in history, nature, and food and wine traditions.
The market is not an isolated event but a recurring appointment that accompanies the lake's tourist season: from spring until autumn, the stalls return to the waterfront several times, usually on weekends. The April edition traditionally marks the opening of the season, while subsequent appointments follow the rhythm of spring and summer holidays and long weekends.
The open-air market format, combined with the waterfront setting, makes it an ideal destination for a family day trip: you can stroll leisurely among the stalls, stop for a taste of local products, and take advantage of the proximity to the beach and green areas overlooking the lake. A simple and genuine opportunity to experience Capodimonte and the Tuscia region away from the major tourist flows.
The April 18-19, 2026 edition marked the reopening of the market season on the Capodimonte waterfront. For the entire weekend, the promenade overlooking Lake Bolsena hosted stalls of handicrafts, local products, vintage items, and collectibles, with exhibitors active from early morning until sunset. A significant part of the market was dedicated to the gastronomic excellence of the territory, ranging from the flavors of the land to rural traditional specialties. Admission was free.
