Running for solidarity in Ca' Pajella
Every May, the Ca' Pajella neighbourhood of Thiene (province of Vicenza) hosts "Capajellando", a non-competitive 10-kilometre road and trail running race, open to everyone — families, runners, or simple walkers. The race is the heart of a neighbourhood festival that spans three days, dedicated to sport, socialising, and charity.
A memorial dedicated to Andrea Turra
The event is a memorial dedicated to Andrea Turra, a child from Thiene who passed away from leukaemia. Part of the proceeds are donated to the Città della Speranza Foundation, supporting scientific research projects in the paediatric field. Sport thus becomes an opportunity for concrete solidarity and shared remembrance for the entire community.
Three days of celebration
In addition to the race, the anticipated neighbourhood festival offers a rich programme: pizza night with live music, a community lunch, a kite festival, and entertainment for all ages. An event that intertwines amateur competition, conviviality, and charitable commitment, deeply rooted in the identity of the Ca' Pajella neighbourhood and the city of Thiene.
Capajellando — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Capajellando opens on Friday, May 8: at 6:00 PM the mini-run for children, followed at 7:00 PM by the 10 km Capajellando race on road and trail, starting from the San Sebastiano Parish Church in the Ca' Pajella neighbourhood.
The celebration continues over the weekend with a pizza evening and live music, the community lunch, and the kite festival. Part of the proceeds are donated to the Città della Speranza Foundation, in memory of the memorial dedicated to Andrea Turra.

How to get there
Thiene is reachable by car from the A31 Valdastico motorway (Thiene exit) and by train on the Vicenza–Schio line. The race starts from the Parish Church of San Sebastiano, in the Ca' Pajella neighbourhood.
Registration
Race registrations can be made on-site or through the channels of the Comitato Ca' Pajella. Part of the proceeds are donated to the Città della Speranza Foundation.
