About Buongiorno Ceramica Sassuolo

Buongiorno Ceramica! is the major widespread festival promoted by AiCC that every year, on the last weekend of May, lights up over sixty Italian cities with an ancient ceramic tradition. In Sassuolo, the heart of the Modenese ceramic district, the event transforms historic palaces, museums, and industrial showrooms into an open-air laboratory: exhibitions, guided tours, workshops for children, and screenings tell a know-how that is the identity of the territory. Two free days to discover the ceramic soul of Sassuolo.

Buongiorno Ceramica! in Sassuolo

Every year, at the end of May, Buongiorno Ceramica! transforms the Italian ceramic cities into one big widespread festival. Promoted by AiCC (Italian Association of Ceramic Cities), the event involves over sixty municipalities with more than five hundred free appointments including exhibitions, workshops, guided tours, demonstrations, and special openings of workshops and studios. In Sassuolo, in the heart of the ceramic district in the province of Modena (Emilia-Romagna), the event has a special significance: the city is one of the main ceramic production centers in Italy and, during these days, showcases both its artistic history and the present of a world-renowned industry.

A city that is the capital of ceramics

Sassuolo is not just any city in the circuit: it is the hub of the most important ceramic district in Europe, where tiles have shaped the economy and culture of the area. For this reason, Buongiorno Ceramica! here does not limit itself to celebrating artistic craftsmanship but intertwines tradition and factory, ancient history and contemporary production. The route winds through the symbolic places of the city: from the monumental Palazzo Ducale to Paggeria Arte, from the headquarters of Confindustria Ceramica to the showrooms of the district's major companies such as Marazzi and Marca Corona.

What to expect

  • Exhibitions dedicated to the historical artistic ceramics of Sassuolo
  • Free guided tours of museums, company galleries, and documentation centers
  • Clay decoration workshops for adults, families, and children
  • Screenings and meetings on the memory of the ceramic district
  • Special openings of industrial showrooms normally not accessible

The Sassuolo initiative is realized by the Municipality of Sassuolo in collaboration with the Municipality of Fiorano Modenese, Confindustria Ceramica, Ceramiche Marca Corona, and Marazzi Group, intertwining the cultural and productive dimensions of the territory. All activities are free admission, designed to introduce both adults and children to the world of ceramics.

A national event, a local history

Sassuolo has become a full member of AiCC, joining the other Italian cities with an established ceramic tradition that participate annually in the widespread festival. Participating in Buongiorno Ceramica! in Sassuolo means experiencing firsthand a heritage made of artisanal skills, identity, and contemporary creativity, in a weekend that combines art, industry, and community.

Buongiorno Ceramica Sassuolo — edition 2026

The 12th edition of Buongiorno Ceramica! took place on May 23 and 24, 2026, involving over sixty Italian ceramic cities with more than five hundred free events. In Sassuolo, the program animated Paggeria Arte, Palazzo Ducale, Palazzina della Casiglia, and industrial showrooms, with exhibitions, workshops, and guided tours dedicated to the district's ceramic heritage.

The 2026 edition of Buongiorno Ceramica!, the twelfth at national level, confirmed Sassuolo among the protagonists of the widespread festival of the Ceramic Cities. On the two days of May 23 and 24, the city opened its symbolic places of the Modenese ceramic district, alternating historical memory and contemporary industrial production.
