A summer festival in the heart of Mount Etna

The Bronte Summer Festival is the collection of summer events organized every year by the Municipality of Bronte, a town in the province of Catania nestled on the western slopes of Mount Etna, in Sicily. It is not a single festival, but a comprehensive calendar that, from July to August, fills the historic squares with all kinds of events: concerts, cabaret shows, open-air cinema, evenings for children, DJ sets, and moments of traditional Sicilian music and culture.

A calendar for all ages

The strength of the Bronte Summer Festival lies in the variety of its offerings. Every year, the municipal administration builds a mix of activities designed to satisfy different age groups: from big names in Italian pop music for young audiences to comedy and cabaret shows, and entertainment and workshops dedicated to children. The most involved squares are Piazza Castiglione and Piazza Spedalieri, which transform into open-air stages during summer evenings.

Music, entertainment, and tradition

Alongside the concerts, there are dance nights with club music, foam parties, open-air cinema screenings, and puppet theater shows. There is no shortage of moments linked to local culture and identity, such as evenings of traditional Sicilian songs and storytelling, and performances by local musical groups. Nelson Castle, a picturesque historic residence in the Bronte countryside, often serves as a backdrop for activities like archery competitions.

Bronte and the pistachio

Bronte is world-famous for its DOP green pistachio, the "green gold" that grows on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. The Bronte Summer Festival represents the appetizer for the city's event season, which culminates in the autumn with the renowned Pistachio Festival.
