Classical music, historic venues, and Eisacktal wines in Bressanone
Brixen Classics is the summer classical music festival held in Bressanone (Brixen), in the heart of the Eisacktal valley, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/South Tyrol. For one week in June, the city's most beautiful historic and artistic landmarks are turned into concert halls. The event is born from the fusion of three unique elements: great classical music featuring world-renowned soloists, sites steeped in history, and the wines and gastronomy of the region.
The beating heart of the festival is the courtyard of the Hofburg, the Renaissance episcopal palace of Bressanone, which hosts the grand gala evenings. The program then extends to Novacella Abbey (Kloster Neustift), with chamber concerts and recitals in the historic setting of the Augustinian monastery, and to the vineyards above Novacella, where the Sounding Vineyards musical walks combine music and tastings at the Köfererhof, Strasserhof, and Pacherhof wineries. In some editions, the festival also reaches Pallaus Castle (Schloss Pallaus), a Renaissance gem usually closed to the public.
The hallmark of Brixen Classics is the pairing of concerts with the fine white wines of the Eisacktal—from Sylvaner to Kerner, Grüner Veltliner to Gewürztraminer—accompanied by South Tyrolean culinary specialties. Each event becomes a sensory experience, where listening to music blends with guided tastings and local flavors.
The festival stage has hosted international opera stars, accompanied by the BrixenClassics Festival Orchestra conducted by Daniel Geiss. The orchestra brings together musicians from leading orchestras and theaters alongside young talents selected from across Europe, in close connection with the Klanglabor music academy, which provides advanced training alongside the festival.
Founded in 2021, Brixen Classics has quickly established itself as one of the most refined summer musical events in the municipality of Bressanone and the entire Trentino-South Tyrol region, capable of attracting an international audience while showcasing the historical, oenological, and landscape heritage of the Eisacktal valley.
The 2026 edition of the Brixen Classics festival was held in Bressanone from June 13 to 20, 2026. The week featured soprano Camilla Nylund as artist-in-residence, accompanied by the BrixenClassics Festival Orchestra conducted by Daniel Geiss and pianist Julia Okruashvili.
As in previous editions, the program intertwined grand opera evenings in the Hofburg courtyard — starting with the inaugural A Night at the Opera concert — with chamber concerts and recitals at Novacella Abbey and musical walks through the vineyards, featuring tastings of Eisacktal white wines.
Bressanone is accessible by train via the Brenner line (Bressanone/Brixen station) and by car via the A22 Brenner motorway, Bressanone exit. The Hofburg is located in the historic center, just a short walk from the Cathedral.
Tickets for individual concerts and packages including tastings are available on the official website and through authorized pre-sale channels. Early booking is recommended for the gala evenings at the Hofburg.
