Running among the UNESCO monuments of the 'Lioness of Italy'
The Brescia Art Marathon, known as BAM, is the marathon of the Lombardy capital: a running event that makes the city of Brescia and its historical-artistic heritage the true protagonist. The courses traverse the center and symbolic places of the "Lioness of Italy," among UNESCO World Heritage sites and different eras of the city's history.
The event offers three races: the full marathon (42.195 km), the half marathon (21.097 km), and the 10 km. The routes, certified and FIDAL-approved, are smooth and never monotonous: the marathon and half marathon tell Brescia's many stories, intertwining eras and landscapes, while the 10 km stays entirely in the center, turning it into a festive and fast circuit.
With participation around eight thousand registered runners and representatives from over thirty countries, BAM is one of the most attended running events in Lombardy. Elite athletes and amateurs share the same streets, in a festive atmosphere that also involves the crowd lining the course.
Organized in collaboration with local sports organizations and sponsors, the Brescia Art Marathon is now a regular fixture in early spring. By combining competition, popular participation, and the enhancement of the historic center, it helps promote Brescia's image as a city of art and sport, capable of attracting visitors and runners from all over Italy and abroad.
The 24th edition of the Bossoni Brescia Art Marathon took place on Sunday, March 8, 2026, starting from Via X Giornate at 8:30 AM. The date coincided with International Women's Day, giving an additional symbolic value to the event.
The three distances — marathon, half marathon, and 10 km — traversed the historic center of Brescia on FIDAL-certified and approved courses, with approximately 8,000 participants from over 30 countries.
