Three days of tradition, food, and music in the Borzoli district
The Borzoli Ascension Festival is one of the most cherished neighborhood festivals in the Medio Ponente of Genoa. Borzoli, an ancient hillside village now part of Municipality VI, retains a strong community identity, which finds one of its most vibrant moments in this spring celebration. The festival originated for the religious occasion of the Ascension but has grown over the years to include gastronomic, musical, and recreational events for all ages.
The heart of the festival is the traditional dinners, served every evening with a menu that celebrates Ligurian cuisine: 'ravioli al tocco', 'trofiette al pesto', fried calamari, sausage, but also more communal dishes like Sunday paella. It's an opportunity to sit together at the table and savor the authentic flavors of the region.
The program alternates moments for all tastes: the Color Run for adults and children, the Cirulla tournament (the famous Genoese card game), concerts by the Coro Monte Bianco with alpine and folk songs, DJ sets, karaoke, and creative workshops for the little ones. There are also commercial stalls and a charity lottery, with proceeds supporting community activities.
Organized by the Società Operaia Cattolica S. Stefano di Borzoli, the festival is the result of the work of volunteers who bring the neighborhood to life each year. More than just a festival, it's an occasion for meeting and strengthening the bonds between the inhabitants of this corner of Genoa.
The 2026 edition of the Borzoli Ascension Festival returns from Friday, May 15th to Sunday, May 17th, in the Medio Ponente district of Genoa. The program blends gastronomy, sports, music, and activities for children, with traditional dinners as the common thread of each evening.
Among the highlights are Saturday's Color Run, Friday's Cirulla tournament, and the concerts, in a festival organized by the Società Operaia Cattolica S. Stefano di Borzoli with the work of community volunteers.
Throughout the event: exhibitions at the former kindergarten and charity lottery.
