Two evenings of taste, music, and memories in the historic alleys of Pontelandolfo, in the Sannio region of Benevento
Borgolandolfo - On the Trail of Lost Flavors is the event that, during summer evenings, transforms the historic center of Pontelandolfo into a path of taste, music, and memory. We are in the heart of the Sannio region, in the province of Benevento, in Campania: a hinterland village perched at an altitude of about 510 meters, made of stone alleys, stairways, and small squares opening onto the hills. The idea of the Radici e Ritmi association, which promotes the event with the moral patronage of the Municipality of Pontelandolfo, is simple and therefore effective: to put the recipes of the past back on the table and have them tasted exactly where they were born.
Here you don't sit and wait for the show: you walk. The journey starts from Via della Rimembranza, then the route winds along the entire Via Municipio and embraces the evocative area of Largo San Pietro, in an itinerary designed to enhance the most characteristic glimpses of the historic town. Each stop has its own stand, its own scent, and often its own music: you proceed without haste, glass in hand, stopping wherever you like and leaving when you want. It is the format that makes Borgolandolfo different from a classic town festival — the village itself becomes the path.
The food and wine section is entrusted to the excellence of the territory and the businesses of the town, each with its own stall along the route:
The common thread is declared in the title: typical local dishes, authentic recipes of the Sannio peasant culture re-proposed as they once were, with the aromas of yesteryear that give meaning to that "trail of lost flavors." Those who arrive do not find a generalist festival menu, but a selection built on what is truly cooked in this part of inland Campania.
Each evening has its own widespread program, with multiple bands playing at different points along the route and DJ sets closing the night. In the 2026 edition, groups and artists such as West Coast Band, Monaghan Duo, Via dei Tribunali, Revival Band, the Duo Celentano-Sofia, the Noble Sound Ensemble, Antonio Colonnesi, and the Gerry Rinaldi Blues Band alternated over the two nights, the latter being one of the most energetic moments of the event for its charge of authentic blues.
Alongside the music, the village fills with other things: exhibitions by local painters, craft stalls, a caricaturist working live, and the Book Swap initiative by the Sannio che legge association, where books are exchanged instead of bought. The result is an evening that brings together food and wine, crafts, art, and live entertainment without any of the four acting as a mere backdrop.
Borgolandolfo was born in 2025: the first edition was held on August 29 and 30, 2025, with the declared goal of bringing to light the authentic flavors and atmospheres of the past, combining gastronomy, art, and historical memory. The response convinced the organizers to confirm and bring forward the appointment: the second edition took place on July 24 and 25, 2026, again starting at 7:30 PM, in a weekend that is already full of summer events in the Sannio region.
Pontelandolfo is not a mass tourism destination, and that is precisely the point: those who come up here find a village that tells its story without tourist filters, with families at their doorsteps, the medieval tower and the church of S.S. Salvatore as a backdrop, and a community that opens its alleys for two evenings. For those traveling in Campania looking for something beyond the coast, it is one of the best opportunities to understand the cuisine and character of the Benevento hinterland.
After the debut in August 2025, the Radici e Ritmi association moved the appointment to the end of July: Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25, 2026, starting at 7:30 PM on both evenings. The charm of the historic center of Pontelandolfo provided the setting for a combination of food and wine, crafts, art, and live entertainment.
The path started from Via della Rimembranza, traveled the entire Via Municipio, and ended in the Largo San Pietro area, enhancing the most characteristic glimpses of the village. A shuttle service with Volkswagen minibuses, managed by the Fuori Fase group, connected the parking lots to the entrance of the historic center.
Along the route, stands from Macelleria Cerrone, Tenuta La Badessa, Borgo Cerquelle, Pizzeria Ponte Stretto, Mente Locale, Lo Stand dei Puffi, Ponte Simone, Dolciaria Diglio, and the Cocktail Area were in operation, along with the fundraising stand of the Parrocchia S.S. Salvatore. There were also exhibitions by local painters, craft stalls, a live caricaturist, and the Book Swap by the Sannio che legge association.
Two distinct programs: Friday with West Coast Band, Monaghan Duo, Via dei Tribunali, Revival Band, and the SHIVER DJ set; Saturday with the Duo Celentano-Sofia, the Noble Sound Ensemble, the Gerry Rinaldi Blues Band, Antonio Colonnesi, and SVAIS DJ.
Precise times for individual sets were not released by the organizers: performances followed one another at different points along the route starting at 7:30 PM.
Two evenings, always starting at 7:30 PM. The 2026 edition was held on Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25; the first edition on August 29 and 30, 2025.
Historic center of Pontelandolfo (ZIP 82027), province of Benevento, Campania. The route starts from Via della Rimembranza, continues along Via Municipio, and arrives at Largo San Pietro.
The village can be easily reached by car from the Benevento hinterland. During the event, the Fuori Fase group provides a shuttle service with Volkswagen minibuses from the parking areas to the entrance of the historic center: it is the simplest solution, given that the streets of the old village are narrow and partly sloping.
Local sources do not indicate any entrance fee: you walk freely along the route and pay as you go at the individual food stands.
Comfortable shoes for the stone alleys and slopes; cash is useful for smaller stands; arrive early (around 7:30 PM) to walk the route calmly before it gets crowded. Those who want to extend their stay can combine it with the Eco-Folkloristic Week, the great summer festival of the Municipality of Pontelandolfo that takes place at the end of July and the first half of August.
Organization: Radici e Ritmi association, with the moral patronage of the Municipality of Pontelandolfo. Updates on the municipal tourist portal and in the local Sannio press.
