Borgo in Fiore - Historic Center Festival is the annual event that dresses the ancient heart of Blera, a small town in the Tuscia area of the province of Viterbo, in flowers and colors. For a few days, the alleys, stairways, and small squares of the historic center are filled with floral arrangements and decorations crafted by the residents, who become the true stars of the festival. The result is a magical, suspended atmosphere where every corner of the village reflects the care and pride of a community opening its doors to visitors.
The event is more than just a floral spectacle. Blera lies along the ancient Via Clodia and is surrounded by a landscape rich in Etruscan and medieval treasures: sunken roads carved into the tuff, necropolises, caves, columbaria, and ancient bridges. During the festival, free guided walks and tours are organized to explore this heritage, blending history, archaeology, and nature in routes suitable for everyone. Participants can discover the most beautiful spots in the area, from the Etruscan sunken roads to the village's historic buildings.
A major focus is placed on local food and wine: the historic center comes alive with food stalls run by local associations, where you can taste traditional dishes and authentic local products. Among the specialties that define the town's identity, the amaretto di Blera stands outโan almond-based treat that is also the star of fun initiatives for those with a sweet tooth. Evenings are spent enjoying good food, live music, and shared celebrations.
The program typically includes shows, music, exhibitions, and craft markets, as well as entertainment and activities designed for children. Admission is free, and the event runs throughout the day and into the evening, allowing visitors to experience the village in all its nuances, from the afternoon light to the nocturnal atmosphere of the illuminated alleys.
Borgo in Fiore is the perfect opportunity to discover one of the most authentic villages in the Viterbo Tuscia, far from mass tourism routes. It is a grassroots festival, born from the initiative of the citizens and associations of the Municipality of Blera, combining a passion for floral decoration with the promotion of local history. A perfect weekend for a trip into the most secret part of Lazio, amidst the scent of flowers, traditional flavors, and the warmth of a small community in celebration.
