A month of events in Bojano, culminating in the feast of San Bartolomeo
In Bojano โ a town in the Matese mountains in the province of Campobasso, ancient cradle of the Samnite people โ summer has a specific name: Bojano August. It's the grand series of events that, for the entire month, fills squares, streets, and neighborhoods with exhibitions, concerts, shows, public gatherings, and sports competitions. Organized by the Municipality along with the Vivi Bojano Association and local organizations, it's a decades-old tradition that brings together residents and returning emigrants.
The program includes events that have become classics: Dante a Castello โ Visions Under the Stars, an itinerant theater, music, and dance performance inspired by the Divine Comedy in the evocative medieval Castle of Civita di Bojano; the street football tournament Bojano Mundial, three days of 3-on-3 challenges; the Notte Gialla (Yellow Night), an evening where the city dresses in yellow with ambient music and shows; and the neighborhood feast of Via San Bartolomeo. These are complemented by major concerts in Piazza Roma, exhibitions at Palazzo Colagrosso, and food and wine events.
The religious and identity climax is the feast of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, patron saint of Bojano, celebrated on August 25th with a pontifical Mass by the Archbishop and a solemn procession. The heart of Bojano August, between the sacred and the profane, is concentrated around this date, in an intertwining of faith, community, and fun that tells the soul of the city.
In 2026, Bojano August renews its appointment with the summer in Bojano: an entire month of concerts, shows, exhibitions, and sports competitions concluding on August 25th with the feast of the patron saint Saint Bartholomew the Apostle (pontifical Mass by the Archbishop and procession). The official page of the Municipality confirms the recurrence of the event; the detailed program, including the major concerts in Piazza Roma and the classic events, will be published during the summer.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced during the summer by the Vivi Bojano Association and the Municipality of Bojano.
The established structure of the event includes: the neighborhood feast of Via San Bartolomeo, exhibitions at Palazzo Colagrosso, Dante a Castello โ Visions Under the Stars in the Castle of Civita, the Bojano Mundial tournament (3-on-3 street football), the Notte Gialla (Yellow Night), major concerts in Piazza Roma, and the feast of the patron saint San Bartolomeo on August 25th with pontifical Mass and procession.
Bojano is located along the SS17 road, about 25 km from Campobasso and Isernia. It is served by the Bojano railway station on the CampobassoโIsernia line.
Most events are free admission; for major concerts, tickets or accreditations may be required, announced by the organizers from time to time.
