Cream puffs, doughnuts, and ring cakes in Piazza Garibaldi, alongside the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua
The Bignè Festival is one of the key events for the community of Montecchio, a medieval village in the province of Terni. The heart of the event is Piazza Garibaldi, which for a few days in August fills with the aromas of pastry and music.
The stars are the cream puffs filled with various creams, accompanied by doughnuts and ring cakes prepared according to tradition. Alongside the tasting of sweets, an open-air tavern offers typical Umbrian dishes, grilled specialties, and local wines.
Each evening is enlivened by bands and orchestras for every musical genre, as well as tombola and games for all ages. The festival takes place concurrently with the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua and actively involves residents in the organization, in an authentically village atmosphere.
The 2026 edition of the Bignè Festival returns to Montecchio from August 19 to 23 in Piazza Garibaldi, coinciding with the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua.
The traditional sweets – cream puffs, doughnuts, and ring cakes – are the stars, alongside the tavern offering Umbrian grilled specialties. Every evening, bands and orchestras for every musical genre, as well as tombola and games for the whole community.
Held alongside the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua. Detailed evening program distributed by the Pro Loco shortly before the event.
