Nights of wonder: street arts, contemporary circus, and music in the Valdaso village
There is a moment, at dusk, when the narrow streets and small squares of Monte Vidon Combatte cease to be simple glimpses of a village in the Valdaso and become a stage. This is what happens during the Borghi Maestri Festival, the street arts event that for two evenings fills the historic center of this Municipality in the province of Fermo, in the Marche region, with acrobats, jugglers, street actors, musicians, and fire artists.
The festival is part of the Borghi Maestri project, shared with the neighboring Municipality of Petritoli and funded through the PNRR - Next Generation EU under the Ministry of Culture's Borghi Program. The goal is to recover the cultural and artistic identity of two small centers in the Fermo hills, restore vitality to the social fabric, and make them a destination capable of surprising visitors.
The heart of the event consists of itinerant and street performances: street theatre, contemporary circus, juggling, tightrope walking, and fire acts alternate in various locations within the village, from the Secret Garden to the Park of Remembrance, up to the Village Square. The shows are scheduled so as not to overlap, allowing attendees to see them all by moving between different locations.
The artistic direction is supported by the Open Street network, an international street arts agency that selects Italian and foreign companies: in recent editions, artists from numerous countries have performed, from Iran and Argentina to Singapore and Kenya, giving the event an authentically international scope despite the village's intimate size.
Alongside the performances, live music accompanies the evenings with pop, rock, and swing sounds, while food trucks, food stalls, and local specialties transform the village into a true festival village. Admission is free to all events, in line with the popular and accessible spirit of the project.
Monte Vidon Combatte is one of those tiny villages you discover almost by chance, nestled in the hills sloping down towards the Aso Valley. Experiencing the Borghi Maestri Festival means seeing one of these places come alive: street artists use staircases, arches, and panoramic viewpoints as natural backdrops, and the wonder of the spectatorsโchildren and adults alikeโbecomes part of the show. It's an opportunity to discover the discreet charm of the inland Marche region, far from the beaten paths.
The Borghi Maestri Festival 2026 returns to Monte Vidon Combatte on Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14, 2026, with shows animating the village starting in the evening. The program alternates street theatre, contemporary circus, music, and fire acts in multiple locations: the Secret Garden, the Park of Remembrance, and the Village Square. Events are scheduled at different times to allow attendees to follow them all by moving between locations. Admission is free, and food trucks and stands with local specialties are available. The festival is part of the Borghi Maestri project, shared with the Municipality of Petritoli and funded by the PNRR - Next Generation EU.
