In the heart of the Aso Valley, in the province of Fermo, the village of Petritoli participates every year in the Notte Romantica nei Borghi più Belli d'Italia, the major national event promoted by the association "I Borghi più Belli d'Italia" (The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy). For one evening, around the summer solstice, the historic centre of the Marche region dresses up for love: soft lights, flowers, and themed decorations turn the alleys and squares into an intimate and evocative setting, designed for those seeking a timeless night.

A national event, a village soul

The Romantic Night involves almost two hundred villages throughout Italy every year, with hundreds of scattered initiatives and hundreds of thousands of visitors. Each village interprets the theme of love in its own way with concerts, shows, exhibitions, and walks, but two moments unite all participating centres: the special dessert "Pensiero d'amore" (Thought of Love) served in restaurants and the famous midnight kiss, accompanied by the release of biodegradable balloons. The initiative is part of an international circuit that unites the associations of the most beautiful villages in Spain, France, Wallonia (Belgium), and Japan, in the world federation "Les Plus Beaux Villages de la Terre" (The Most Beautiful Villages of the Earth).

The charm of Petritoli

Petritoli is one of the certified most beautiful villages in Italy in the Marche region. Built around the year 1000 on a hill overlooking the green Aso Valley, it offers a panorama stretching from the Sibillini Mountains to the Adriatic coast. The historic centre, developed on multiple levels, preserves neoclassical palaces, brick alleys, and symbolic monuments such as the Tre Archi (Three Arches), the Torre Civica (Civic Tower), and the Teatro dell'Iride (Iris Theatre), a small 19th-century gem. It is no coincidence that the village is nicknamed "the village of weddings", a destination chosen by couples from all over the world to say "I do". This vocation makes the Romantic Night a particularly cherished event.
