Research music and nature at the Sanctuary of Sant'Emiliano
There is a festival that, to listen to music, first asks you to walk. The BAO Music Festival takes place in Valle Trompia, above Sarezzo, in the province of Brescia, and its stage is the evocative Sanctuary of Sant'Emiliano. An isolated and silent place, reached by guided trekking, which for one day becomes the setting for research music concerts.
The day begins with a guided excursion led by environmental guides, starting in the morning from Lumezzane and leading to the sanctuary. Here, two concerts by international artists come to life in a cozy and charming setting. It is an experience that combines the pleasure of walking, the beauty of the pre-Alpine landscape, and the attentive listening of music outside the commercial circuits.
The festival brings names from the experimental and avant-garde scene to the mountains of Brescia: from the Canadian guitarist and singer-songwriter Eric Chenaux, known for his visionary jazz-influenced songwriting, to the Polish performer Antonina Nowacka, who explores the voice as an instrument and artistic material. Lunch, with bread, cheeses, and pasta, is provided by GAM Sant'Emiliano, in a convivial atmosphere that completes the experience.
Organized by GAM Sant'Emiliano, the BAO Music Festival is a small gem in the region's cultural calendar. For those who love research music and authentic places, it is an opportunity to discover Valle Trompia and its natural and spiritual heritage, in a day that remains etched in memory.
