Chestnut Autumn in the Garza Valley

When the woods of the Garza Valley turn autumnal, the three municipalities of Nave, Bovezzo, and Caino, in the Province of Brescia, bring the Chestnut Festival to life. It is a widespread event, spread over three consecutive weekends in October, celebrating the chestnut, the prized fruit that has characterized the economy and cuisine of this pre-Alpine valley for centuries.

Excursions, Roasted Chestnuts, and Tastings

The program blends nature and gastronomy: excursions and guided tours in the chestnut groves, fragrant roasted chestnuts, tastings and food stalls, as well as workshops, art and local culture exhibitions, live music, and activities for families. It's an opportunity to discover an authentic territory, made of paths, villages, and agricultural traditions, just a few kilometers from the city of Brescia.

The Grand Finale at the Pieve della Mitria

Among the symbolic places of the festival in Nave is the Pieve della Mitria, an ancient Romanesque church that serves as the backdrop for the final event: competitions, awards, live music, and the traditional Brescian spiedo, the star dish of local cuisine. Spread across three municipalities and three weekends, the Chestnut Festival is much more than a gastronomic feast; it is the collective story of a valley that recognizes itself in its chestnut groves and flavors, and shares them with visitors every autumn.
