A nerd festival in the heart of Abruzzo

Avezzano Comix and Games is the event dedicated to comics, gaming, and pop culture held in the city center of Avezzano, a major hub of the Marsica region in the province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo. Born in 2025 as the first nerd festival in the Marsica area, the event quickly became a highly anticipated appointment for fans from all over central Italy, transforming Avezzano's squares into a vast space of fantasy, creativity, and entertainment.

Comics, cosplay, and games

The heart of the event is the culture of comics and illustration, featuring a conference area dedicated to talks and in-depth discussions, meetings with authors and artists, and the Artist Alley, a creative lane where illustrators and comic artists work live and show the public how a comic page is born. The cosplay competition is a must-see, with an exceptional jury ready to reward the best portrayals of characters from manga, anime, comics, and video games.

The festival also dedicates ample space to gaming: role-playing tournaments, trading card challenges like Magic: The Gathering, gaming areas, and panels created in collaboration with specialized industry experts. There is no shortage of lightsaber duels and many activities designed for the nerd-themed fun of both adults and children.

Music, shows, and community

In addition to comics and games, Avezzano Comix and Games offers live musical shows, performances by themed bands, and immersive acts that blend contemporary languages with pop imagery. The event also focuses on inclusion, with spaces and initiatives open to everyone. Artistic direction is entrusted to the Scuola di Fumetto d'Abruzzo, while the organization is promoted by the Municipality of Avezzano.

Avezzano and the Marsica region

Avezzano is the main center of the Marsica, the area of the Fucino plain at the foot of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park. The festival is an opportunity to discover the city and its territory, combining a passion for pop culture with the enhancement of urban spaces like Piazza Risorgimento and the historic center. An event that brings the atmosphere of the great Italian comic festivals to Abruzzo, in a welcoming and family-friendly dimension.
