In the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese, the hillside village of Montescano, in the Province of Pavia, experiences its most anticipated summer event: the August Festival. Three evenings of music, food, and conviviality transform the Parco comunale Missaga — the Festival Park nestled in the green hills — into the vibrant heart of the village.
Volunteer-Run Food and Bar
Conviviality is key: starting from 8:00 PM, the volunteers of Pro Montescano open the bar and restaurant service, offering traditional dishes in a popular festive atmosphere. Three evenings — typically Saturday, Sunday, and Monday — mark the event, each with its own musical program.
Music and Folk Dancing
The evenings are animated by live music and DJ sets, with sounds ranging from pop to rock, and traditional folk dancing. The last evening, in particular, is dedicated to dancing, with orchestras transforming the park into a large open-air dance floor, true to the tradition of Oltrepò festivals.
The Grand Fireworks Finale
Concluding the August Festival is the most spectacular moment: the fireworks display on Monday evening, illuminating the night sky over the Montescano hills. A scenic finale that bids farewell to summer and seals three days of celebration, in an event that preserves the convivial and genuine spirit of the Oltrepò Pavese.
August Festival — edition 2026
In 2026, the Parco comunale Missaga in Montescano will once again host the August Festival, three evenings of celebration amidst the greenery of the Oltrepò Pavese hills. Volunteers from Pro Montescano will manage the bar and restaurant service from 8:00 PM, while live music, DJ sets, and folk dancing will liven up the evenings. The grand finale will be the fireworks display on the last night.
The exact dates for the 2026 edition will be announced by Pro Montescano closer to the event.

- Bar and restaurant service managed by Pro Montescano volunteers from 8:00 PM

- Second evening (Sunday) — Live music with a pop-rock repertoire
- Third evening (Monday) — Folk dancing with an orchestra and final fireworks display
