The widespread Piedmontese festival arrives at Piazza Martiri di Alessandria, in the heart of the Asti Monferrato region
Attraverso Festival is one of Piedmont's most important widespread cultural projects: a nomadic festival that weaves together theater, comedy, music, and educational meetings every summer, bringing national stars to the squares, castles, and theaters of the UNESCO-listed hills of Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato. Among the towns hosting the event in the province of Asti is Nizza Monferrato, a lively town in the Asti Monferrato region famous for its Barbera d'Asti and cardo gobbo (humpback thistle), which welcomes the festival in its most iconic square, Piazza Martiri di Alessandria.
Now in its 11th edition in 2026, Attraverso Festival stretches over 200 kilometers and involves about thirty municipalities across the provinces of Asti, Alessandria, and Cuneo, with over forty events. The artistic direction is entrusted to Paola Farinetti and Simona Ressico, with organization by Hiroshima Mon Amour and Produzioni Fuorivia. The festival has made the territory its stage: every performance engages in a dialogue with its host location, from panoramic viewpoints and historic squares to the wineries and wine landscapes recognized by UNESCO.
In Nizza Monferrato, the festival events are held outdoors in Piazza Martiri di Alessandria, the large porticoed space in the historic center that has always been the heart of city life, home to the famous market and major events. The evenings, usually scheduled between late August and early September, alternate between authorial comedy, civic theater, music, and meetings with major names in journalism and education, in the informal and popular atmosphere that defines the festival.
Attending an evening of Attraverso Festival in Nizza Monferrato means combining the great national stage with the pleasure of discovering one of Piedmont's wine capitals. The Nizza stop is an opportunity to experience the Asti Monferrato town beyond its oenological tradition, in evenings that focus on culture, words, and public encounters, under the porticoes and the summer stars.
The 11th edition of Attraverso Festival enlivens the summer of 2026 with over forty events distributed across about thirty municipalities in the provinces of Asti, Alessandria, and Cuneo. In Nizza Monferrato, in the heart of the Asti Monferrato, the festival stops outdoors in Piazza Martiri di Alessandria for two consecutive evenings, faithful to the festival's vocation for authorial comedy and quality education.
The artistic direction of Paola Farinetti and Simona Ressico confirms the widespread festival formula: bringing protagonists of the Italian scene to symbolic places of the UNESCO-listed wine landscape, enhancing squares and historic theaters of the territory. Presales for the 2026 edition open on February 19, 2026, on the Mailticket platform and the official festival website.
A brilliant comedian and well-known face of the television scene, Federico Basso debuts at Attraverso Festival with a monologue that offers an ironic and original look at everyday life. The same show, as part of the festival, also touches the Grinzane Cavour stop.
The deputy director of Il Post and voice of «Morning» brings to the stage an educational meeting on international current events, particularly on the US scenario, in dialogue with the public.
Federico Basso with the comedy monologue «Profilo Basso» (August 31) and the meeting with journalist Francesco Costa, voice of Il Post, on «Dopo Trump» (September 1): two outdoor evenings in Piazza Martiri di Alessandria.
Piazza Martiri di Alessandria is located in the historic center of Nizza Monferrato (AT). By car, the city is accessible from the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway or the A21 (Asti Est exit), continuing along the state road towards the Belbo Valley. By train, the Nizza Monferrato station is served by the Asti-Acqui Terme-Genoa line.
Tickets for the Nizza Monferrato shows can be purchased online via the Mailticket platform and on the official festival website, in the "Program" section. Advance booking is recommended for the most popular events, which often sell out.
Combine your evening with a visit to the historic center of Nizza Monferrato and a tasting of Barbera d'Asti DOCG, perhaps accompanied by the famous Nizza cardo gobbo, a local Slow Food Presidium.
