Marco Paolini returns to the Piedmontese Apennines

On Sunday, August 30, 2026, the Teatro nella Natura (Theater in Nature) at the Cascina Moglioni Ecomuseum, located in the Capanne di Marcarolo area of Bosio (Province of Alessandria), will host one of the most anticipated events of the southern Piedmont cultural summer: Marco Paolini with his show "Antenati - the grave party". The event, scheduled for 5:00 PM, is part of the Attraverso Festival program and is organized in collaboration with the Management Body of the Piedmontese Apennine Protected Areas, as part of the Appennino Racconta 2026 calendar.

"Antenati" is both an epic and a comic tale, where the problems of the present are inextricably linked to the difficulties and dangers our ancestors faced over 200,000 years. Paolini, one of the greatest storytellers of Italian civic theater, retraces evolution and ecology with his unmistakable style, blending narrative flair, irony, and depth. The show is written by and stars Marco Paolini, with music by Fabio Barovero, technical and sound direction by Piero Chinello, and lighting and set design by Michele Mescalchin.

A theater immersed in nature

The setting is as evocative as it gets: the Cascina Moglioni Ecomuseum is located in the heart of the Capanne di Marcarolo Natural Park, a protected area of great natural value in the Apennines on the border between Piedmont and Liguria. The Teatro nella Natura brings the performance outdoors, in direct dialogue with the forest and the landscape, following the philosophy of the Attraverso Festival, which chooses unconventional venues for its events.

The Attraverso Festival is a widespread cultural event that every summer, from July to September, brings life to the villages, hills, and parks of the Alessandria, Asti, and Cuneo provinces, in a territory that spans the Langhe, Monferrato, Roero, and the Piedmontese Apennines—landscapes largely recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Concerts, theatrical performances, meetings, and talks are held in historic squares, castles, courtyards, and natural parks, with a special focus on the quality of the offerings and the connection to the locations.
