Franco Arminio's civil poetry at Villa Claudia, in the heart of the Piedmontese Apennines
On July 15, 2026, the small town of Morbello, nestled among the woods of the Apennines in the Province of Alessandria, will host one of the most beloved voices of contemporary Italian poetry: Franco Arminio. The event takes place at Villa Claudia in Località Costa and is part of the Attraverso Festival, the widespread cultural series that brings the villages of Southern Piedmont to life every summer.
The performance Arminio brings to Morbello is titled The Grace of Fragility. It is a poetic reading that weaves together verses, thoughts, and stories: the poet and "paesologo" from Irpinia invites us to rediscover the beauty of small things, depopulated villages, and lives on the margins. His is a civil poetry, capable of speaking about solitude, community, and territory with a direct and intimate language. In a village like Morbello, far from mass tourism routes, his reflection on Italy's inland areas finds the perfect setting.
The Attraverso Festival is a traveling event that visits dozens of towns every year across the hills of Langhe, Monferrato, Roero, and the Piedmontese Apennines, territories inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Promoted by the Hiroshima Mon Amour ETS Association together with Produzioni Fuorivia and directed by Paola Farinetti and Simona Ressico, the festival blends theater, music, literature, meetings, and outreach, bringing great names of Italian culture to often unexpected places: courtyards, villas, churches, squares, and natural landscapes.
Morbello is a village of a few hundred inhabitants immersed in the greenery of the Apennines in Piedmont. Its intimate atmosphere and the silence of the hills make the experience of a poetry reading under the stars particularly evocative. The evening with Franco Arminio is the only Attraverso Festival event hosted in Morbello, a precious opportunity to discover this little-known corner of the Province of Alessandria.
The 2026 edition of the Attraverso Festival is the eleventh and takes place from July 13 to September 18, with over 40 events in about 30 municipalities in the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, and Cuneo. In Morbello, in the Province of Alessandria, the festival offers a single event: the evening with Franco Arminio.
The theme of the 2026 edition is #pop, a declaration of love for accessible and popular culture. Guests of the entire series include names such as Stefano Massini, Ambra Angiolini, Alessandro Barbero, Elio Germano, Niccolò Fabi, and Paolo Nori.
The poet and "paesologo" Franco Arminio brings to Morbello a reading of civil poetry dedicated to the value of small things, depopulated villages, and fragility as a form of grace. The evening is the only Attraverso Festival event hosted in the municipality of Morbello.

Tickets cost 15 euros and can be purchased online via the Mailticket platform. Booking in advance is recommended, given the limited capacity of the location.
The event takes place outdoors in the evening: bring clothing suitable for the cool hilly air. Check times and access methods on the official festival website.
