Letture Amene arrives in Cureggio

In the heart of the Alto Novarese region, the small town of Cureggio (Province of Novara, Piedmont) hosts one of the many events of the ExtraFestival Letture Amene: "Attraverso", an afternoon dedicated to children and families held at the Municipal Library. Led by reader and entertainer Mauro Diluca, the meeting weaves together shared aloud readings and creative activities, transforming the library space into a place for play, listening, and discovery.

What is the ExtraFestival Letture Amene

The ExtraFestival is the extensive outreach program of the Letture Amene festival, a series dedicated to nature, picture books, and the arts, promoted by the DragoLago ETS Association. From February to May, over forty events reach eighteen municipalities between the Alto Novarese and Cusio areas, bringing aloud reading into libraries, schools, and community centers. The goal is to promote reading as a tool for inclusion and peace education, engaging children long before the festival's main weekend.

The festival on Lake Orta

Events scattered across the territory, such as the one in Cureggio, lead the public toward the heart of the event, which takes place every year between Miasino, in the scenic Villa Nigra, and Ameno, at Palazzo Tornielli, on the shores of Lake Orta. Two days of workshops, readings in the woods, exhibitions, shows, and dialogues designed for families, children, teenagers, and enthusiasts of all ages.

A participatory festival

Letture Amene is a project deeply rooted in the local area: it involves schools, Pro Loco associations, libraries, and local groups, and is supported by organizations such as the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and the Fondazione Comunità Novarese. The Cureggio event is a testament to how the ExtraFestival network manages to bring the culture of reading even to the smallest towns, far from major urban centers.
