Wine, food, and local specialties on the shores of Lake Maggiore
When spring arrives, the Lungolago Caduti di Nassirya in Arona transforms into a vast open-air wine cellar. Arona... Che Bolle is the Arona stop of the traveling festival organized by the Associazione Che Bolle APS, bringing wine producers and local artisans from all over Italy to the shores of Lake Maggiore. Located in the heart of the town of Arona, in the Province of Novara, the event draws enthusiasts and curious visitors for two days of lake-view tastings.
The history of the Che Bolle brand began a few years ago with a focus solely on sparkling wines, hence the name. Since then, the event has evolved into a traveling showcase that highlights the great national oenological heritage: today, the tasting stands feature wines from Piedmont and Lombardy, as well as Veneto, Marche, Apulia, Sicily, and Sardinia. Alongside the wine, visitors can enjoy local and regional flavors: cheeses, honey, hazelnuts, cakes, biscuits, Sicilian street food, and artisanal specialties.
The formula is simple and well-tested: you purchase a tasting glass, which grants you unlimited access to sample wines from the wineries present along the route. It is an informal and convivial way to discover different labels, chat with producers, and pair wines with the gastronomic products offered by the various exhibitors.
Arona is one of the most popular destinations on the Piedmontese side of Lake Maggiore, overlooking the water and dominated by the famous Sancarlone, the monumental statue of Saint Charles Borromeo. Its wide, pedestrian-friendly promenade is the natural setting for an event that combines fine food and wine, a pleasant stroll, and a lakeside panorama. The festival is part of a broader calendar that also visits other locations around the lake and Upper Piedmont.
Between one stand and another, Arona... Che Bolle offers the relaxed atmosphere of a local fair combined with the quality of a curated wine selection. It is the ideal occasion for a spring trip to Lake Maggiore, enjoying a glass of Piedmontese wine, a taste of cheese, and a slice of cake, with the lake always in sight.
