About Arms & Luggage

Arms & Luggage is the largest international historical re-enactment market, a European event that every spring brings together over five hundred stands dedicated to the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and historical craftsmanship in Piacenza Expo. For an entire weekend, the fair transforms the Piacenza exhibition center into a journey through time, with handmade clothing, armour, weapons, footwear, and objects, travelling shows, historical gastronomy, and collateral sections for enthusiasts of all ages.

A Journey Through Time at Piacenza Expo

Arms & Luggage is the largest international historical re-enactment market in Europe and one of the most anticipated events for history, craftsmanship, and historical reconstruction enthusiasts. The event takes place annually at Piacenza Expo, the modern exhibition center of the Municipality of Piacenza, in Emilia-Romagna, and for an entire weekend, it fills the pavilions with handmade clothing, armour, weapons, footwear, work tools, and a thousand objects from the past.

Over Five Hundred Stands and Collateral Sections

The heart of the fair is the large exhibition market, with over five hundred stands divided between the central pavilion and numerous thematic sections dedicated to the various worlds of historical passion and collecting. Alongside the main market, there are events that have become classics:

  • ExpoArc, dedicated to the world of archery and traditional shooting;
  • Piacenza Militaria, a market exhibition for military collectibles;
  • I Coltelli (The Knives), an exhibition dedicated to the art of fine cutlery;
  • Miti & Leggende - Oltre i confini della storia (Myths & Legends - Beyond the Borders of History), a section dedicated to mythological fantasy;
  • SoftairFair Piacenza, the national softair fair.

Shows and Historical Gastronomy

Completing the offering is Ludicaria, the festival that brings together historical entertainment professionals: jesters, musicians, actors, jugglers, and stilt walkers animate the corridors with travelling performances, while an entire area is reserved for historical and traditional food and wine. Among the craft stalls and local product stands, visitors can admire the work of master artisans, blacksmiths, tailors, and armourers who keep ancient techniques and trades alive.

Towards UNESCO Recognition

In recent years, Arms & Luggage has strengthened its international role, hosting meetings between European organizers and supporting the path towards the recognition of historical re-enactment as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The event thus confirms Piacenza as a reference point for the preservation of artistic trades and historical traditions in Emilia-Romagna.

An Event for the Whole Family

With its mix of market, culture, entertainment, and gastronomy, Arms & Luggage is an event suitable for the most demanding enthusiasts as well as families and the curious who wish to approach the world of living history. The province of Piacenza, with its castles and villages, provides the ideal backdrop for a weekend dedicated to memory and craftsmanship.
