Three days of Japanese culture in the park of Villa Negrotto Cambiaso
The town of Arenzano (Province of Genoa) has a special connection with Japan: it was here that Edoardo Chiossone was born, the engraver who, at the end of the 19th century, helped found modern Japanese graphic art. It is also in homage to this history that Arenzano on the Road to Japan was born, an event dedicated to the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun, which takes place over three days in the park of Villa Negrotto Cambiaso and in various locations in the city.
The program โ with over forty events โ ranges from tradition to contemporary culture: exhibitions such as "Sguardi di Seta" and "The Colors of Japan," the biographical exhibition on Edoardo Chiossone, origami and haiku workshops, tea tastings, martial arts demonstrations (kyudo, aikido), and film and anime screenings. A proposal that invites you to discover the depth and beauty of Japanese culture.
Organized by the Municipality of Arenzano together with the associations Tre Buoni Motivi per Leggere and Unitre Arenzano Cogoleto, with the patronage of the Consulate of Japan, the event is held concurrently with Rensen Comics, dedicated to pop culture. Together, the two events transform Arenzano into a meeting point between classical Japanese culture and contemporary phenomena, in the heart of the Genoese Riviera di Ponente.
The first edition of Arenzano on the Road to Japan enlivens the town from May 1st to 3rd, 2026. With over 40 events spread across the park of Villa Negrotto Cambiaso, Villa Mina, the Council Chamber, and the town center streets, the event offers exhibitions, workshops, tastings, and demonstrations dedicated to Japanese culture. Organized by the Municipality of Arenzano with Tre Buoni Motivi per Leggere and Unitre Arenzano Cogoleto, under the patronage of the Consulate of Japan.
By train: Arenzano station on the GenoaโVentimiglia line. By car: A10 motorway, Arenzano exit, then Villa Negrotto Cambiaso.
Free admission for most events; tea tastings, film screenings, and origami workshops are ticketed. Info: [email protected].
