Arenzano Children's Carnival

Half a century of allegorical floats

Since 1977, every February, the town of Arenzano (Province of Genoa) transforms for the Children's Carnival, one of the most important carnival events in Liguria. Reaching its forty-eighth edition in 2026, the carnival is organised by the Arenzano Children's Carnival Committee and represents a deeply rooted tradition in the community.

The parade along the seafront

The heart of the celebration is the grand parade of allegorical floats that starts from Piazzale del Mare and winds along Arenzano's seafront. The floats, the result of months of work, parade alongside masks, costumes, and entertainment groups, offering a spectacle of colours that especially delights the youngest, the true protagonists of this "children's" carnival.

A celebration for the whole community

More than just an event, the Children's Carnival is an identity-defining occasion for Arenzano: the preparation of the floats and costumes involves associations, families, and volunteers in a collective effort that is renewed each year. Overlooking the sea and framed by the Beigua Park, the town experiences its most cheerful and participatory celebration on this day, a winter classic of the western Ligurian Riviera of Genoa.
