The Carnival of Arbizzo

The Arbizzo Carnival is the carnival celebration of the hamlet of Arbizzo, in Cadegliano-Viconago, a municipality in the upper Varese area in the province of Varese, a short distance from the Swiss border. Organized by the Arbizzo Festival Committee, it is now a historic and deeply felt event by the community, capable of attracting families, friends, and curious visitors every year.

Two evenings in costume

The festival unfolds over two evenings of conviviality, with masks mandatory for all participants. The program alternates between aperitifs, traditional peasant dinners, the classic tombola, and a risotto offered to all attendees. A simple and genuine format that puts food, cheerfulness, and togetherness at the center.

Traditional Cuisine

The local dishes are the stars at the table: tripe, tagliatelle with ragù, roast with potatoes, cured meats, and other specialties from the Varese valleys. The cuisine, prepared by the committee's volunteers, is one of the ingredients that make the Arbizzo Carnival an anticipated and appreciated event.

The Spirit of the Village

The Arbizzo Festival Committee also enlivens the life of the hamlet with other traditions, such as the Peasant Festival and the feast of the Madonna delle Grazie. The Carnival, however, remains one of the most beloved moments: an example of how, even in a small village, the community spirit can transform two winter evenings into a grand village festival.
