About Apple Day

For over forty years, on a Sunday in October, Bagnaria celebrates the symbol fruit of the Staffora Valley with the Apple Day. In Piazza Aldo Moro, local producers set up a zero-km fruit and vegetable market with apples of many varieties, from Golden to Renetta, from Annurca to Pomella Genovese, alongside seasonal pears, chestnuts, and honey. Amidst food and craft stalls, the Pro Loco refreshment point, live music, and a nature walk in the village surroundings, it's an event that showcases the agricultural vocation of Alto Oltrepò Pavese.

Apples take centre stage in the heart of Oltrepò

The Apple Day is one of the most cherished events in Bagnaria, a small village in the Staffora Valley in the Province of Pavia. For over forty years, on a Sunday in October, the event celebrates the most loved and representative fruit of Alto Oltrepò Pavese, in a day that combines market, gastronomy, and rural tradition.

The zero-km fruit and vegetable market

The heart of the festival is the market set up in Piazza Aldo Moro, where local producers offer zero-km apples in numerous varieties: Golden, Stark, Pomella Genovese, Renetta, Annurca, Fuji, Champagne, and Granny Smith. Alongside the apples, there is space for other seasonal fruits, such as pears, chestnuts, and honey, in an exhibition that tells the story of agriculture in these Apennine valleys.

Stalls, gastronomy, and music

Food and craft stalls line the square, while the refreshment point is managed by the Pro Loco of Bagnaria. The day is accompanied by live music and initiatives for families, from bouncy castles to pony rides for the little ones. There is also attention to well-being, with free health screenings offered by the ATS.

The 'Il Tempo delle Mele' walk

Among the most characteristic offerings is the nature walk 'Il Tempo delle Mele' (The Time of Apples), an excursion through the orchards and trails around the village that reveals the history, nature, and fruit-growing traditions of Alto Oltrepò Pavese.

An event of identity

Promoted by the Municipality of Bagnaria and the Pro Loco, with the support of the Lombardy Region, the Apple Day, along with the Cherry Festival, is one of the events that best represent the agricultural identity of Bagnaria and the Apennine Lombardy.

Apple Day — edition 2026

The 43rd Apple Day of Bagnaria is expected on a Sunday in October 2026 in Piazza Aldo Moro. This year again, the zero-km fruit and vegetable market will focus on apples from Alto Oltrepò Pavese, with food and craft stalls, the Pro Loco refreshment point, and activities for families. The exact date will be announced by the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Bagnaria.

For the 2026 edition, Bagnaria renews its autumn appointment dedicated to the apple. In Piazza Aldo Moro, the local producers' market will return with apples of many varieties and other seasonal fruits, alongside food and craft stalls and the refreshment point managed by the Pro Loco. The day, according to tradition, will be enlivened by live music, activities for children, and the nature walk in the village surroundings.

The detailed program for the 43rd edition will be published by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event.
