A popular festival for the memory of the Resistance
The ANPI Provincial Festival of Rome is the annual event where the National Association of Italian Partisans (ANPI) reaffirms the values of anti-fascism and the Constitution born from the Resistance within the capital. The event is traditionally held in early June, close to June 4th, the anniversary of the Liberation of Rome from the Nazi-fascist occupation in 1944. The guiding theme, revisited year after year, is the slogan «Rome, free and anti-fascist».
Quarticciolo, the heart of the 2026 edition
After the first two editions hosted in more central areas of the city, in 2026 the festival makes a clear statement by moving to a historic suburb of the Municipality of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital (Lazio): Quarticciolo, a working-class neighborhood in the eastern quadrant, with its Parco Modesto Di Veglia as the main stage. This is a deliberately political choice: to bring anti-fascist culture into an area often portrayed only through crime reports, highlighting the many associative, sports, and social realities that bring it to life.
What to expect during these days
For three days, the park and the neighborhood spaces are filled with free initiatives designed for all ages. The program weaves together different forms of expression:
- Book presentations with authors, often featuring guests from the world of culture and entertainment;
- Screenings of documentaries and films dedicated to the Resistance, local suburbs, and human rights;
- Round tables and debates on peace, rights, labor, memory, and current affairs;
- Exhibitions on the 20th-century Resistance and the role of women in the Resistance and the Constituent Assembly;
- Concerts, DJ sets, and theatrical readings every evening, ranging from singer-songwriters to rap and Roman folk music;
- Social moments such as the famous Sunday partisan lunch.
A grassroots project
The festival is promoted by the ANPI Provincial Committee of Rome with the contribution of numerous local sections—including Centocelle, Villa Gordiani, and Tor Pignattara for the Quarticciolo edition—and the work of dozens of volunteers and local associations. It is a free-entry, self-funded, and participatory event that combines the transmission of historical memory with the meeting of generations and neighborhood communities.
ANPI Festival Rome — edition 2026
The 2026 edition, the third, marked a turning point: the ANPI Provincial Festival of Rome left the center for Quarticciolo, a working-class neighborhood in the eastern quadrant of the capital. From June 5 to 7, the Parco Modesto Di Veglia was transformed into a large space for culture and civic engagement, with the inauguration entrusted to the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and the National President of ANPI, Gianfranco Pagliarulo.
The program intertwined round tables on the Resistance in the suburbs, book presentations, documentary screenings, exhibitions on the 20th-century Resistance and the Founding Mothers, and two concerts every evening: from anti-Francoist songs to rap, up to the Roman folk music of BandaJorona. Highlights on Sunday: the partisan lunch and the presentation of «Cuore partigiano» with actor Elio Germano.

Where
Parco Modesto Di Veglia, Quarticciolo district, Rome (00171). Exhibitions and some initiatives also take place in neighborhood spaces, such as the Centro Sociale Anziani on Via Locorotondo and the Quarticciolo square.
How to get there
Quarticciolo is located in the eastern quadrant of Rome, along Via Prenestina/Casilina. It is accessible via ATAC surface lines and Metro C (Prenestino-Centocelle quadrant stops) plus connecting buses. By car, the recommended exit from the Grande Raccordo Anulare is towards Prenestina.
Admission and costs
The festival is free to enter. Concerts, debates, screenings, and exhibitions are open to everyone; the Sunday partisan lunch is by donation.

In recent editions, some initiatives have been translated into Italian Sign Language (LIS).
