About Saint Mary Magdalene Fair
Over two centuries of history
In Castelgomberto, a town at the foot of the Vicenza hills, the Ancient Saint Mary Magdalene Fair has been held continuously since 1796: it was in 1795 that Antonio Piovene requested authorization from Venice to establish it. Since then, every July 22nd – the day dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene – the fair enlivens the town center, with a weekend of celebrations preceding the main date.
Tripe, queens of the fair
The star dish of the tradition is tripe, prepared by the Pro Loco and served at the food stand: a delicious event awaited by generations of Castelgomberto residents. Alongside the food, stalls of exhibitors and vendors occupy the town center, while the Holy Mass in the church of Santa Maria Maddalena, on Via Villa, keeps the religious dimension of the fair alive.
A celebration for the whole community
Musical evenings and moments of fun for all ages complete the program of an event that, organized by the Pro Loco Castelgomberto, intertwines commerce, faith, and social life. It is one of the longest-running historic fairs in the province of Vicenza, a symbol of the identity of a territory between the Agno river and the Lessini Mountains.

The Ancient Saint Mary Magdalene Fair 2026 reaches its peak on Wednesday, July 22nd, the saint's day, with celebrations already underway the preceding weekend. In the center of Castelgomberto, stalls of exhibitors and vendors are set up, while the Pro Loco's food stand offers the unmissable tripe, the traditional star dish. The Holy Mass in the church of Santa Maria Maddalena and musical evenings complete the program of a fair active since 1796.

How to get there
Castelgomberto is located in the middle Agno valley, in the province of Vicenza. By car, take the A4 motorway exit at Montecchio Maggiore, then head towards Valdagno/Castelgomberto. The nearest train station is Vicenza, followed by a bus.
