The Ancient March Fair of Fumane is one of the oldest and most deeply rooted events in Valpolicella, in the province of Verona. With its 156th edition, the fair has its roots in the 19th century and celebrates the agricultural and peasant traditions of the area every year at the beginning of March. The center of Fumane, with Piazza IV Novembre and the surrounding streets, becomes the stage for a day of celebration that attracts visitors from all over the province.
Wine, gastronomy, and local products
The fair is, first and foremost, a large market of local products, crafts, and agricultural equipment. The wineries of Fumane offer tastings of Valpolicella wines in wooden pavilions, while the cuisine of the Pro Loco of Fumane offers local specialties and typical dishes. An exhibition like "Arte in Valpolicella" enriches the day in the Council Chamber, also featuring the work of students from local schools.
Peasant tradition and entertainment
The most evocative moment is in the morning, with the demonstration of plowing with vintage tractors, followed by the blessing of agricultural machinery, recalling the fair's rural origins. For children, there is a park with workshops, introductory horseback riding, and wooden games with the Ludobus, while in the afternoon, live music enlivens the square with the bands Macho Koala and The Dots. In the morning, an excursion along the "Cammino del Vino e della Pietra" (Path of Wine and Stone) is also offered with CTG Valpolicella, to discover the landscape around Fumane.

The 2026 edition, the 156th, of the Ancient March Fair takes place on March 1st in Piazza IV Novembre and the streets of Fumane's center. The program includes a rich market of local products, crafts, and agricultural equipment, tastings from Fumane wineries, and cuisine from the Pro Loco.

How to get here
Fumane is located in Valpolicella, in the province of Verona. By car from the A22 motorway (Verona Nord exit), continue towards Valpolicella; the nearest train station is Verona Porta Nuova, from which you can continue by car or bus.
Admission
Access to the fair, market, and events in the square is free. Wine tastings and Pro Loco gastronomy are subject to a fee.
