A Centuries-Old Fair in Alta Padovana
The Ancient Franca Fair of Gazzo is one of the oldest events in the area: a centuries-old fair held in October in Gazzo (Gazzo Padovano), a municipality in the Alta Padovana region in the province of Padova, on the border with Vicenza. For generations, it has combined the agricultural dimension with that of a popular festival, attracting exhibitors, breeders, and visitors from all over the area between Padova, Vicenza, and Bassano del Grappa.
Transhumance and Rendena Breed
The symbolic event of the fair is transhumance, with the passage of flocks returning from the mountains, and the Provincial Competition of Rendena breed cattle. The Rendena, a typical breed from Val Rendena, has found one of its main diffusion areas in Veneto precisely in the region between Padova, Vicenza, Bassano del Grappa, and the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni. In Gazzo, it is the protagonist of a competition highly valued by breeders.
Exhibition-Market, Farm, and Gastronomy
The fair hosts an exhibition-market of crafts, typical products, and zero-kilometer products, educational farm activities and workshops dedicated to milk, as well as gastronomic stands curated by the Pro Loco of Gazzo Padovano. Music and entertainment for all ages complete an event that remains one of the most beloved in the autumn calendar of the Municipality of Gazzo.
Ancient Franca Fair — edition 2026
The Ancient Franca Fair of Gazzo is a recurring centuries-old event: after the 2025 edition (245th, held on October 11-12), the new edition is also expected in 2026 in October. The fair combines agricultural tradition — transhumance and the Provincial Competition of Rendena breed cattle — with a village festival.
Organized by the Municipality of Gazzo with the Pro Loco of Gazzo Padovano, it features an exhibition-market of crafts and zero-kilometer products, educational farm activities, gastronomic stands, music, and entertainment for all ages. The precise dates will be announced by the organizers closer to the event.
