Three days of mountain cuisine and alpine tradition at Parco Clivio in Caldana
In the Caldana hamlet of Cocquio-Trevisago, in the heart of the pre-Alpine Varese region, summer has a fixed appointment: the Alpine Festival organized by the local Alpini Group, affiliated with the Varese Section of the National Alpini Association (A.N.A.). It takes place at Parco Clivio, on Via Broglio, in early August.
The heart of the event is the food stall, offering the great classics of alpine cuisine: polenta with sausage and mushrooms, pizzoccheri, stew, and other mountain specialties. The festival generally opens on Friday evening with a pizzoccheri dinner and continues through the weekend with dinners and convivial moments open to families, friends, and food lovers.
Sunday has a different tone: at 10 AM, gather in Piazza del Noce in Caldana for the official ceremony, with flag-raising, parade of pennants and Alpini members, and Holy Mass. This is followed by the grand community lunch. It is the moment when the festival reveals its most authentic soul: not just gastronomy, but memory and belonging, with proceeds supporting the activities of the Alpini Group.
Cocquio-Trevisago is located at the foot of Campo dei Fiori, in an area of woods, trails, and small hamlets like Caldana, where alpine tradition is still alive. The Alpine Festival is a good opportunity to discover this corner of Lombardy away from the most beaten tourist routes.
The 2026 Alpine Festival in Cocquio-Trevisago is eagerly awaited, as per established tradition, for early August at the Parco Clivio in Caldana. The event, organized by the local Alpini Group (A.N.A. Varese Section), confirms its three-day format with a mountain cuisine food stall and, on Sunday, the ceremony with flag-raising, pennant parade, and Holy Mass.
The precise dates and detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Alpini Group and the A.N.A. Varese Section in the weeks leading up to the event.
