Alpenoca, a June day in Santa Maria del Taro

Alpenoca is the event scheduled for June 20, 2026, in Santa Maria del Taro, one of the most characteristic hamlets of the Municipality of Tornolo, in the province of Parma. We are in the westernmost part of Emilia-Romagna, in the upper Val Taro, a few kilometres from the border with Liguria and the Bocco Pass: a mountain territory where the Parma Apennines become more rugged and scenic, made up of forests, high-altitude meadows, and ancient paths.

Where it takes place: Santa Maria del Taro

Nestled at about 700 metres above sea level along the valley carved by the Taro River, Santa Maria del Taro is a small village rich in history and nature. It is considered the closest Emilian location to the Ligurian Sea and preserves an ancient link with the Abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio, whose origins date back to the early Middle Ages. Among its symbols are the Sanctuary of the Nativity of Mary and the medieval Ponte dei Priori, which spans the Taro River. All around, the valley opens onto waterfalls, old mines, and hiking trails that make it a favourite destination for those seeking authentic mountain experiences.
