Four days of floats, masks, and performances in the heart of the ancient Samnite city
Every year in February, the Alife Carnival brings the streets and squares of one of the most charming villages in the province of Caserta, Campania, to life. Still enclosed within its extraordinary Roman-era walls, Alife dresses up in color and joy to host a festival that blends popular tradition with a sense of community. The heart of the celebrations is Piazza della Liberazione, where a heated marquee is set up, allowing visitors to enjoy the shows even on the coldest days.
The program is specifically designed for children and families: parades of allegorical floats, magic and ventriloquism shows, juggling, entertainment, inflatables, and play areas fill the four days of festivities. Colorful masks, confetti, and live music transform the historic center into a large shared space, where the Carnival becomes a moment of gathering and participation for the whole community.
The undisputed stars are the allegorical floats, which parade among the crowd spreading the typical carnival spirit, along with the inflatable floats that bring the final day to life. There is no shortage of evening shows, featuring magic performances, live musical tributes, and the spectacular fire show that brings the event to a beautiful close.
A town of ancient Samnite origins and later a Roman municipality, Alife preserves a regular urban layout enclosed by walls and towersโa heritage that provides the ideal backdrop for such a heartfelt popular festival. Experiencing Carnival in Alife also means discovering the charm of the Alto Casertano and Matese area, rich in nature, history, and food and wine traditions.
Organized by the Municipality of Alife in collaboration with local associations, the Carnival offers free admission: all activities, shows, and entertainment are open to everyone who wishes to participate, from children to adults.
The 2026 Alife Carnival brought four days of festivities dedicated to families and children to Piazza della Liberazione. Between allegorical floats, inflatable floats, magic and ventriloquism shows, live musical tributes, and the final fire show, the event confirmed its spirit of popular gathering in one of the most characteristic villages of the Caserta province.
All activities took place in Piazza della Liberazione, at the heated marquee.
