About Hunter's Festival

Every summer, Agosta, a small village in the Aniene Valley near Rome, hosts the Hunter's Festival: an evening in the town square dedicated to hunting traditions and fine dining. Organized by the local Federcaccia branch and the Pro Loco, the event fills Piazza San Nicola with the aromas of wild boar and arrosticini, accompanied by music, dancing, and activities for families and children. A genuine gathering that blends hunting culture, environmental respect, and village conviviality.

A village festival in the Aniene Valley

The Agosta Hunter's Festival is one of the most cherished summer events in the small town of Agosta, in the province of Rome, nestled in the green Aniene Valley just a few kilometers from the capital. Established a few years ago by the Agosta Municipal Federcaccia Section and the local Pro Loco, the festival has grown with each edition to become a true community gathering, attracting visitors from neighboring towns and nearby Rome.

Game flavors and traditional cuisine

The heart of the event is the dining experience: food stalls set up in Piazza San Nicola offer dishes featuring wild boar and sheep arrosticini (skewers) grilled on the spot, accompanied by other typical products from the Lazio region. It is honest, rustic cooking rooted in hunting culture and the flavors of the Apennine mountains, reflecting the ancient bond between this community, its forests, and the Aniene Valley.

More than just food

The Hunter's Festival is much more than a typical food fair. Throughout the evening, the square comes alive with music and group dancing, a traditional raffle with great prizes, and a market dedicated to hunting gear, offering enthusiasts a chance to discover equipment and accessories. Among the most popular activities is the "FaiCentroConFedercaccia" virtual shooting simulator, a free initiative managed by the FIDC Youth Group, which allows both adults and children to experience shooting in total safety.

An event designed for children too

Great attention is paid to families: recent editions have featured magic shows for the little ones and a booth with drawing and creative activities, run by the FIDC Young Hunters and the Federcaccia Women's Coordination. The festival thus becomes an opportunity to introduce new generations to themes of nature, the environment, and responsible land management.

Hunting, environment, and education

The Agosta Federcaccia section is known for transforming the Hunter's Festival into a collective commitment, pairing the festivities with ecological days and environmental education activities. It is a way to remember that hunting culture in Agosta goes hand-in-hand with forest conservation and the protection of the Aniene Valley, a natural heritage site of Lazio.

Why attend

Visitors to the Agosta Hunter's Festival will find an authentic village celebration, far from commercial formulas: good food, music, the warmth of the locals, and the picturesque setting of a village in the Lazio hinterland. A genuine experience to discover a lesser-known corner of the province of Rome, where nature, tradition, and conviviality meet on a summer evening.

Hunter's Festival — edition 2026

The Agosta Hunter's Festival is expected to return in the summer of 2026 in Piazza San Nicola, featuring its well-established formula: wild boar and arrosticini dishes, music, dancing, a hunting market, and children's activities in the setting of the Aniene Valley. Official dates have not yet been announced by the organizers.

Following the success of the first four editions, the Agosta Hunter's Festival is expected to return in the summer of 2026, traditionally on an evening in July in Piazza San Nicola. At the moment, the Agosta Municipal Federcaccia Section and the Pro Loco have not yet published the official date or the detailed program for the edition. The formula is confirmed, and the event is expected to feature food stalls with wild boar and sheep arrosticini, music and dancing, a raffle, a market dedicated to hunting gear, and activities for families and children. It is recommended to follow the organizers' official channels for updates on dates and the program.
