The sausage celebration in the heart of the town of the Sicilian cart
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Sausage Festival is one of the most cherished culinary events in Aci Sant'Antonio, a town in the province of Catania famous for its tradition of the Sicilian cart. Every year in September, the town center transforms into a vibrant festival space where the star of the show is the sausage, prepared and cooked according to local traditional recipes. The event is organized by the San Biagio Festival Committee and is part of the broader calendar of rites dedicated to the saint, weaving together the religious and popular dimensions typical of Sicilian festivals.
The heart of the festival is represented by the food stalls, where you can sample grilled sausage and other typical products of the Etna territory, accompanied by the flavors of traditional Sicilian country cooking. Alongside the food and wine offerings, there are craft stalls that showcase local production and the town's ancient trades. The convivial atmosphere and the focus on product quality make the event a perfect occasion to rediscover the authentic flavors of the province of Catania.
The Sausage Festival is not just about food: the program features a rich calendar of entertainment every year. Highlights range from performances by folk groups, such as the famous Tamburai of the Catania tradition, to shows by local dance schools, group dancing led by DJs, and comedy acts by artists well-known to television audiences. The event attracts a large crowd not only from Aci Sant'Antonio but also from neighboring towns in the Etna area, confirming its status as one of the most attended local autumn events.
Although a relatively recent event, the Sausage Festival has quickly established itself as a highly anticipated seasonal appointment, supported by the municipal administration and the enthusiasm of the community. Today, the festival represents a symbol of the gastronomic and social identity of Aci Sant'Antonio, in Sicily, and contributes to enhancing the bond between religious tradition, popular culture, and local hospitality.
The Aci Sant'Antonio Sausage Festival returns in September 2026, in line with the tradition that links the event to the San Biagio festivities. The official dates and the detailed program for the 2026 edition have not yet been communicated by the San Biagio Festival Committee. As in previous editions, food stalls with sausage and local product tastings, craft stalls, and an entertainment program with music and shows in the town center are expected.
Aci Sant'Antonio is located in the province of Catania, on the slopes of Mount Etna. By car, it can be reached via the A18 Messina-Catania motorway (Acireale exit) or from the Catania ring road. Catania-Fontanarossa Airport is approximately 20 km away. The festival takes place in the town center, near Piazza Maggiore.
The event is traditionally held in September, coinciding with the festivities in honor of San Biagio.
Access to the festival area is free; tastings at the food stalls are paid according to the price lists of individual vendors.
