Medieval village, roots, and traditions in Parrano
A Dive into the Middle Ages is the event that at the end of May brings to life the historical dimension of Parrano, a village in the province of Terni nestled in the woods and gorges of the Orvieto area and recognized as Cittaslow. The event guides visitors to discover the medieval historic center and the rich natural and cultural heritage of the town.
The program includes visits to the medieval village, the Museum of the Territory, the evocative Venus Verde sculpture, the Community Apiary, the chapel of Madonna delle Grazie, the Medieval Oven, the Green School, and the Thermal Park. The event has developed a strong connection with the theme of root tourism, dedicating space to exhibitions and meetings about those who left Parrano to emigrate, within the framework of the national Italea program.
There are also convivial moments, with the medieval lunch, tastings of Umbrian products, and the market of local producers. Organized by the Municipality of Parrano with local associations, the event also promotes sustainable mobility, with dedicated low-emission transport. A precious opportunity to discover an authentic village away from the major tourist flows of the province of Terni.
The 2026 edition of A Dive into the Middle Ages is expected at the end of May in Parrano (TR), following the traditional timing of the event (previous editions took place around May 24-26). The festival confirms its blend of historical re-enactment, heritage valorization, and root tourism.
