"7 Cori" Choral Festival

A choral marathon in the heart of Pigneto

The "7 Cori" Choral Festival is a celebration of community music held at the Teatro Centrale Preneste, a historic cultural venue in the Pigneto district, just a stone's throw from Torpignattara in Rome's Municipio V. The concept is as simple as it is engaging: seven choirs perform one after another without interruption, in a choral marathon that spans generations, styles, and languages. Singers aged three to ninety-three take the stage, demonstrating how singing can unite an entire neighborhood.

Seven choirs, one breath

All ensembles are directed by maestro Paula Gallardo, the president and driving force of the association, who also provides piano accompaniment. Six of the choirs were formed within the APS Centro Studi Atelier Centodue: from the Coro dei 102 to the Voci d'Oro for teenagers, the Nuovo Coro Popolare, and Coroincanto—a choir for women without borders—to the young voices of the introductory music students. The festival is completed by a guest choir: the Coro Polifonico Bibliocanto di Spinaceto, led by maestro Livia Cangialosi.

A boundless repertoire

What makes "7 Cori" special is the variety of its program. In just a few hours, the audience travels from Renaissance music to spirituals, from Italian folk songs to singer-songwriter classics (including works by artists like Fabrizio De André), and on to international pop and multicultural songs that reflect the diverse soul of this part of Rome. Music designed for children, the heart of the association's educational work, is also featured.

The APS Centro Studi Atelier Centodue

Behind the festival lies a deeply rooted organization: the APS Centro Studi Atelier Centodue, active in Torpignattara since 1999. For over twenty years, the association has brought music, singing, and culture to the suburbs of the capital's southeastern quadrant through choirs, workshops, and educational projects for children, youth, and adults. This commitment has been recognized by city institutions, which awarded its president the "Energie per Roma" distinction in 2025.
